Mika Mäntylä appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering
Mäntylä's research focuses on the quality of software and the role of psychological factors in software development.
Mika Mäntylä, D. Sc. (Tech), has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, starting from 1 August, 2014. The field of the professorship is empirical software engineering.
Mäntylä’s research focus is on the software quality and behavioural software engineering where he focuses especially on the effect of time pressure in software development. Among other things, he has studied the effects of rapid releases on software testing, and the role indirect quality assurance methods have in the detection of software defects.
Mika Mäntylä got his M. Sc. (Tech) degree in 2003 and D. Sc. (Tech) degree in 2009 at the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University). Before his appointment, he worked as a senior researcher and teacher at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and as a postdoctoral researcher at Lund University in Sweden.
