Degrees
The School of Science follows a two-phase degree structure. The students first complete a lower degree (Bachelor of Science in Technology) and then a higher degree (Master of Science in Technology).
The education leading to basic degrees is planned and organized so that students graduating from the degree programmes will be able to work in areas requiring technical and scientific expertise.
The postgraduate degrees offered by the Aalto University School of Science are Licentiate of Science (Technology) and Doctor of Science (Technology). The doctoral degree may be taken directly after the Master's degree; it is not compulsory to take the licentiate degree first.
All the postgraduate students of the School of Science belong to the doctoral programme. The Doctoral Programme of Science consists of 39 research fields.
